This painting, a gift from eleven art lovers from Rotterdam in 1917, was the first Impressionist painting in a Dutch public collection. Everything is blurred in this spring landscape, as if the scene is viewed through the eyelashes. The small dabs of paint give a suggestion of shimmering light.
