    Dear Anna, you can find the size of the painting under the button: 'show all details', in this case 121,4 x 132,4 cm. If this is not what you mean with your question, I can advise you to watch Boijmans TV 2013, episode 6 -Growth on YouTube, in which the painting is discussed from 10.35 minutes onward and strange things happen with respect to scale and size.     Is the frame that "the new generation" is exhibited in the original frame?
    Also, could you please give me some information on the ownership history of the painting?

    Dear Caroline,
    The frame of The New Generation is indeed the original frame. The painting was bought in 1949 at an auction house in Den Haag by our then director J.C. Ebbinge Wubben. It belonged to a private owner who bought the work from Jan Toorop himself. For a long time it decorated the study of the Dutch poet.

Jan Toorop was one of the most important Symbolist artists around 1900. He developed his own curvilinear style that was known as the 'salad oil style' after a poster that Toorop designed for Delftsche Slaolie. The child in the highchair is Toorop's daughter Charley who would later become an important artist
