    Hallo mijnheer of mevrouw Uiterwijk, het schilderij waarbij u deze vraag stelt staat momenteel in de acclimatiseringsruimte (A0.07) omdat het binnenkort wordt uitgeleend voor een tentoonstelling in het Cobra museum in Amstelveen (vanaf 1 juni). Dog Bite/Axe to Grind en Kings of Egypt II zijn beide uitgeleend, de eerste aan het Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, de tweede aan het KMSK in Antwerpen. Hartelijke groet, Els

    Beste Véronique, het schilderij is gemaakt met acrylverf en oliestick op doek en het is 193,5 cm hoog en 239 cm breed. Deze gegevens kun je ook zelf vinden door naar beneden te scrollen en de blauwe knop 'meer details' aan te klikken. Het achtergrondverhaal valt niet zomaar te vertellen, daarvoor moet je wat dingen over Basquiat, zijn leven en de cultuur waar hij uit voortkomt lezen. Hij was bezig met het slavernijverleden en in zijn beelden vindt je elementen terug van de religieuze beweging die de slaven in Zuid-Amerika ontwikkelden genaamd candomble. Succes! Els
