The museum's mission

Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen is a museum of art and design with an extensive international collection spanning from the Middle Ages to the present day, originating from private collections. We carefully collect, present, research, document, conserve and restore the collection and share it with as many people as possible. We display art from different periods so that the public can make connections between the past and the present. We develop surprising presentations and an innovative programme. In an exhibition and work building, we take visitors into the world of art and imagination and contribute knowledge and new insights. It is our belief that art is an enrichment for everyone, now and in the future.
