Marcantonio Raimondi and his followers
From 1510 onwards, Raphael worked closely with the engraver Marcantonio Raimondi, who made prints from his designs with great skill. Raimondi’s innovative engraving style was the ideal technique for reproducing drawings and paintings and was the model for various pupils and followers. The exhibition in the print gallery showed engravings by Raimondi and his followers, like Giorgio Ghisi and Marco Dente. On display were also works by engravers such as Agostino Veneziano and "the Master of the Die", who put designs by artists like Baccio Bandinelli and Michiel Coxie into print.
