Watermark | crowned shield with three French lilies and a housemark underneath (72x35mm, left of the centre, on P3 from the left; vH, 8P, fine, cropped folio), very similar to Piccard Online 128562 (doc. Riga, Latvia, 1530) and Briquet 1734 (French make, doc. Cleves 1537). The same type of watermark is found in a drawing (Portrait of Christian II of Denmark) by Jan Gossaert van Mabuse in the Lugt Collection, Fondation Custodia, Paris (Boon 1992, vol.
