More information

Pluto, the god of the underworld, abducted Proserpine and took her to his domain - Hades. Proserpine’s mother Ceres was eartbroken.
Proserpine’s father Jupiter reached a compromise: Proserpine would spend half the year in Hades and the other half in the land of the living with her mother. This bronze is a smaller version of the famous marble sculture that Girardon made for Versailles.
