More information

Both the landscape of the Normandy coat, where Louis Eugène Boudin grew up, and the coastal area of Bretagne would constantly attract this artist. Often Boudin would set up his easel outside in a harbour or a resort in order to paint the beach, the boats and the coastline on site. The sky, the light and the water are the most important subjects of his paintings. Bénerville was one of the many Normandy resorts where Boudin frequently worked. He committed the bay and the coastline of this place to canvas on several occasions.
