The Empty Glass

Ask anything

  • Tina Fattori asked

    Hello,
I was wondering if there is an inscription on, "The Empty Glass"? I'm an information studies student who needs to create metadata attributes for this work for an assignment. I can't see one or find reference to it but I thought I'd check.
It's not a big deal if you don't know, I just thought I'd ask in case I can impress my lecturer with something :)
    Have a great weekend,
    Tina.

  • Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen answered

Hi Tina, our registration system does not hold information about any inscription (there is a field, but it is empty). Good luck with your assignment and kind regards, Els

  • Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen answered

Dear Brooke, at this moment, the museum is closed for renovation. Since 2020 the painting is on loan to Museum Het Prinsenhof in Delft, were it is shown with other Delft masters until February 2, 2025. Kind regards, Els

  • Megan Denson asked

Hi, I recently bought two paintings from a high end estate sale in New Orleans, Louisiana which I believe are Pieter de Hooch. They have a striking resemblance to this painting. Is there someone I can email pictures to take a look?

  • Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen answered

Hi Megan, I would reach out to our Curator of Old Masters about this (ruben.suykerbuyk@boijmans.nl). I've talked to him, so he knows about your question. Best, Lisa
