Boijmans in the Classroom
Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen is a place to marvel, learn to look, and discover.We introduce people from all ages to our collection, not only in the museum or theDepot but also at schools, universities, companies, and other museums. Especiallynow that the museum is temporarily closed for renovation and renewal. Would youlike to help bring art to life for children?

If the children cannot come to the museum because of the renovation, then we will go to the children. From the museum's closure in 2019 until the opening of the Depot in 2021, schoolchildren in Rotterdam no longer have to leave the classroom to view real works of art from the priceless Boijmans collection. For the first time, schools can “order” Boijmans artworks and museum docents “on location”. This is a first for Rotterdam and the Dutch museum world. Parrot Paulo visits the youngest children with sculptures of animals. Older pupils view real 17th-century objects or surreal works of art together with experienced museum educators. A lesson in conceptual art is also offered. Almost 7,300 pupils in Rotterdam have enjoyed the collection in this way. This project has now been completed. But our ambition to bring children and young people into contact with art never stops. Will you join us?
