Open Call – Zuid. Boijmans Van Beuningen

Are you an artist or art collective working within the field of social art practices? Are you ready for a next step in your career and are you open to critical reflection on your own artistic practice? Would you be open to involving residents, children or partners in the neighbourhood in your work? Are you interested in exploring the collection, Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen and museological practices? Then we are looking for you.

Zuid. Boijmans Van Beuningen offers an art commission for artists or artists' collectives who use their work to explore new connections between art, heritage and local communities.

Each year, an open call allows artists and art collectives to propose a new work for Zuid. and engage with the collection of the museum. Artists are invited to work with residents, children or organisations in the neighbourhood.

Part of the program is to take active part in the wide range of activities being organized by Zuid. and (in collaboration with) partner organizations. The artist/collective is expected to present a plan for a visitor-interaction/program during the commission period.

How to sign up

To participate, we ask you to make either a video of max 2 minutes or a one-pager in which you explain and/or illustrate your practice and initial proposal. This may be spoken or written in Dutch or English. The video or text may be accompanied by a document with images or illustrations. Send a document or link to your video, together with your contact details before June 3rd 2024 to zuid@boijmans.nl. In the subject mention 'Open call Zuid'.
