William Engelen - ‘Verstrijken voor ensemble’

Specially for Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen the artist William Engelen (lives and works in Berlin and Rotterdam) developed the composition ‘Verstrijken voor ensemble’. The sound piece could be experienced live and as a sound installation in a specially designed concert space in the form of the body of a stringed instrument.

Engelen wrote a composition for nine instruments based on the biorhythms of the musicians. A week’s daily activities, rhythms and patterns were translated into music and a graphic score that filled an entire gallery.
