Vedute Backstage

Vedute asks designers, artists, architects and others to make an object about the concept of space. Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen presented a selection of sixteen objects in the second ‘Vedute Backstage’. This time the presentation will feature works by Dutch and Belgian exhibitors to coincide with Design Derby: Netherlands-Belgium (1815-2015).

The aim of Vedute, a foundation set up in 1991, is to build a library of 'spatial manuscripts'. Those taking part are asked to visualize the concept of space within 44 x 32 x 7 cm. The works fit in a standard box file. Twenty-three years after it was established, Vedute’s collection contains 210 different solutions to this task. In this presentation the museum is showing work by Robbrecht & Daem Architecten, Mels Couwel, Job Koelewijn and others.

The collection is managed by Het Nieuwe Instituut and varying selections are also regularly shown in Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen’s library. There have been a number of publications and institutions also present the objects themselves.
