This is a portrait of the singer Elizabeth Craeyvanger. The Amsterdam based history painter, Pieneman, was a friend of the Craeyvangers. He later taught their two sons, Gijsbertus and Reinier, who both became painters. Pieneman's son Nicolaas also became a painter.
