Silver fuses the collections of Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen and the Tax and Customs Museum during Boijmans Next Door. Stunning silver goblets, tobacco boxes and salt cellars are being rehoused from the Museumpark to the Parklaan. More information
Human Appearances – Strength & Vulnerability

From 9 September, several highlights from Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen’s sculpture collection will be guests in the sculpture garden at the Erasmus Medical Center. In this location in the hospital, where the body is the primary focus, the five sculptures explore the strength and vulnerability of what it means to be human. More information

From 7 December 2019 the Kunsthal Rotterdam presents the exhibition ‘Masterly!’, a survey of four centuries of paintings and drawings by famous masters such as Rembrandt, Rubens, Van Gogh, Delacroix, Pissarro, Saenredam, Goltzius and Basquiat. The exhibition also features works by lesser-known artists such as Cornelis Saftleven and Joseph Augustus Knip. ‘Masterly!’ is the third in the series of three exhibitions hosted by the Kunsthal as part of ‘Boijmans Next Door’. Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen’s international collection is fanning out across Rotterdam. Around five hundred masterpieces are finding places in eleven fantastic exhibitions in eight neighbouring locations.
Keep pushing the boundaries, literally and figuratively: that is Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen’s motto. The museum has been inspiring the public for thirteen generations. Through the internet and social media, the museum now reaches people in their homes. The museum building is a place for coming together and enjoying and learning about art. In addition, the museum is proud to present the BVB Collections programme of travelling exhibitions, which allows people all around the world to experience the collection in person.
At the beginning of the next school year, we are launching project Boijmans in the Classroom, in which we will visit schools with artworks from the collection. The museum’s programme continues and part of its famous collection will in school classrooms throughout Rotterdam. Pupils will study the artworks and learn about the artist’s ideas and the period in which the works were made. Boijmans will visit schools in the Rotterdam area with a diverse selection of artworks. Additionally, schools can visit the exhibitions that are part of the programme Boijmans Next Door.
