Ask anything

  • Frances Calman asked

What is the provenance of this statue? Thank you.

  • Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen answered

There isn't a lot I can tell you about the provenance of this piece. I do know that it has been in our collection since 1938. Because of this date it is also a part of a broad reseach into collection pieces that were acquired during the Second World War. I checked with a colleague for you, but our research into this specific statue hasn't had a lot of results since there are a lot of sculptures of Saint Anthony that were produced during the Middle Ages.
