Dear collegues has this painting once belonged to the collection of Ida Bienert in Dresden?
Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen answered

Dear Petra, Thanks for your question and excuse me for the (summer)-delay in answering. No, this painting went from Kandinsky's studio into the collection of Rudolf Bauer (1889-1953) and from there into the collection of the Solomon R. Guggenheimmuseum in New York. The museum auctioned a number of Kandinsky's at Sotheby's in 1964, among them was this work. Then our museum acquired it. I hope this is helpful. Kind regards, Els
