More information

This splendid, sharply and nervously painted little panel was once part of the frame of the ‘Griffoni altarpiece’ by Ercole de’ Roberti and his mentor Cossa in San Petronio, the principal church of Bologna. That large polyptych was dismembered in the 18th century and its remnants are now spread over nine collections worldwide. The seven known saints from the frame are in Ferrara, Venice, Paris and Rotterdam.
