More information

The fame of the eccentric Ensor rests on a series of pictures featuring the masks and skeletons from his mother’s party supplies shop. He also painted Christ on an ass, entering Brussels not Jerusalem, engulfed by Ensor’s contemporaries, who all look mad. Part of that painting is on the right in this view of the artist’s home. He is seated in the room at the back.
