The Design of the Depot Building

Locatie
Depot

The mirrored Depot building is a new architectural icon for the city of Rotterdam, but where did this special design come from?

Rotterdam-based architect Winy Maas of MVRDV designed the Depot building, architect John Körmeling designed the entrance hall, and visual artist Marieke van Diemelen designed a labyrinth of floating display cases for our collection. How were the many different functions, desires and requirements considered in these designs? Students visit the whole building up to its panoramic roof terrace to discover its special features.
