The paper is divided into four parts by two small intersecting paths. Below left, small and in yellow, there is another composition in the form of a cross. This cross has wide and narrow paths and is reminiscent of the Suprematist paintings of the Russian artist Kasimir Malevich or the work of El Lissitzky. Just as many post-war artists, Vanderheyden wanted to determine his position in respect to these famous artistic forefathers.
