Zijn landschappen zijn licht van toon, met vervagende contouren., In 1899 the publisher Vollard planned an album of colour lithographs by Roussel as a sequel to the series by Vuillard and Bonnard, but this ‘Album de Paysage’ was never completed. Although Roussel belonged to the Nabis, after 1895 his work moved more towards Impressionism. His landscapes are light in tone with blurred outlines.
