Corot made many paintings and drawings of Ville d'Avray, in the countryside to the west of Paris, where his parents owned a property. This free and loose drawing shows the house from across a pond, with a row of willow trees. The same view appears in a painting of around the same date (Robaut 1905, III, no. 1488).
