'Day and Night 'is one of Escher's best-known prints. In bird's eye view we see a flock of birds flying in opposite directions: black birds by day to the left, white birds by night to the right. The subtle transition in the landscape and the flock of birds in the symmetrical design is a form of optical illusion typical of Escher's work.
