The monogram H.S.S. beneath the lettering is that of Hans Sachs (1494-1576). The texts of both sets are attributed to this Nuremberg shoemaker-poet, who specialized in simple rhymes like these. In this case he lets a horseman from Persia speak. 'Soldinus' tells us that Sultan Suleiman wants to add 'all Germany' to his empire.
