More information

These elegant candelabra can be found in the archives of the production collective Wiener Werkstatte, an initiative of a number of Austrian artists similar to the British Arts and Crafts movement, under work order S 1878. They were given the name 'Giradol' and were identified with a sketch of the upper part. The documentation shows that five of these were made between 1909 ad 1916. This pair is probably the two original ones dating from 1909; they came into the possession of the Rotterdam family Willebeek le Mair soon after they were made.
