Jan Ouderogge and his sons Dirk and Cornelis were famous makers of bells and cannon in Rotterdam. The dozens of cannon they cast were used to defend cities, on warships and for ceremonial purposes. This small cannon belongs to the latter category and was commissioned by Jacob van den Corput, a member of the Board of Admiralty of Rotterdam.
