More information

St Martin is usually portrayed on horseback, cutting his cloak in two to share it with a naked beggar. That night he dreamt of Christ wearing the half he had given away: what you do for the least of these you do for me. Martin converted. Here he is giving alms as a bishop with crosier and mitre, for later in life he became a member of the church hierarchy.
