Ask anything

  • Deb asked

How was it found/bought? Whats it’s story?

  • Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen answered

Hi Deb, Unfortunately we have very little information about this jar. Our registration system just says that it was owned by an Antwerp collector called Frans Claes (1860-1933). Then came in the collection of J.W.N. van Achterbergh and then in the museum collection. We don't know what happened between c. 1580 and c. 1900. Kind regards, Els
