This valuable drinking dish by the Utrecht silversmith Christiaan van Vianen shows an almost naked Ceres, goddess of fertility. She has a sheaf of corn in her left arm and points with her right hand at a loaf of bread and several pieces of fruit lying on the table. In the foreground to the left there is a shell-shaped basket. The background shows a landscape in which a man and woman are harvesting. The foot is a seated Bacchus figure.
