Drawn in Indian ink on tracing paper, this drawing of the Holy Family resting in an Egyptian landscape is typical of Bresdin's studies for prints, although in this case the drawing only seems to have been transferred to a printing plate eleven years later. There are no surviving impressions of the 1871 etching, but it was adapted by Bresdin to a lithograph in 1873, with alterations to the donkey and the landscape scenery.
