In the 18th century, no hall in a richly decorated house was complete without a grandfather clock. It was an impressive piece of furniture, often crowned with an Atlas figure carrying the world on his shoulders. Angels with long trumpets are at his side, heralding his fame. A crest with rococo curls is placed above the movement in the cabinet.
