Love 2.0: Alicia Framis Marries Artificial Intelligence

9 November 2024, artist Alicia Framis married Ailex Sibouwlingen, an AI hologram. We look back on this world premiere with an interview between curator Annemartine van Kesteren and Framis, as well as a video of the wedding ceremony at the Depot. During Art Rotterdam 2025, Van Kesteren will talk to Framis again.

Amira Gad: “I thrive in obstacles”

Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen is delighted to announce the appointment of Amira Gad as the new Conservator of Modern & Contemporary Art. Amira, who took up her post on August 1st, 2024, brings her wealth of experience to the museum. The Egyptian-French curator has worked on landmark exhibitions at acclaimed institutes across the world, from Europe to China and the Middle East. After having previously been employed in the city, she now ‘comes back home’ to Rotterdam a decade later.

Now online: catalogue of Italian Renaissance drawings

Over the last six years, the collection of Italian drawings (1400-1600) in Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen has been researched by scholars and curators from Europe and the US. The results of this research project are now available on our website, where over 380 drawings can be explored via images and scholarly texts. Many of these drawings appear online for the first time.
