More information

Rei Kawakubo's designs undermine Western ideals of beatuy and femininity. Indeed, she questions the very concept 'fashion'. Her 'Lumps & Bumps' collection for Comme des Garçons is a milestone in the history of fashion. With this collection, Kawakubo questioned whether feminine curves in the appropriate places are a necessary ingredient for beauty. This was the first catwalk presentation of a female body that deviated radically from the anatomical form.
