More information

The canvas by Vouet has a religious theme, namely the 'Madonna in adoration of the Christ child'. The figures are clearly lit and stand out against the dark stable in the background. On the far right, there are tall trees in a landscape. The work arose during Vouet's stay in Rome around 1624.
