Since the start of his career Emo Verkerk has concentrated on portraits of celebrities from the worlds of art, music and literary history. The portraits are not exact portrayals of these people, but rather the image of Verkerk’s interpretation of their personalities. Here he has painted a portrait of the English writer Izaak Walton (1593-1683), seen through the eyes of a trout.
