Delicious cheese, bread and butter, fish with onions, and a good glass of beer. It is a table from the early days of the Dutch still life that has been laid here. The later taste was for more luxurious arrangements seen in better perspective, but they were not as edible. The satisfaction with which this early abundance was depicted would never be surpassed.
