Adam Colton has worked mainly in plaster for a number of years. A rectangular block with metal reinforcement has served as the point of departure for a series of sculptures, in which a pile of erratic forms is clamped between high, rigid outer walls. Despite the abstract character of these works, Colton always used a motif from reality as his starting point. He mapped the play of forces hidden under the skin on a drawing of his own leg, the drawings then serving as guides for his sculpture. The blue pencil lines on the plaster make the relationship with the drawings perceptible.
