Saftleven uses allegory to expose social wrongdoing. By replacing people with animals he mocks those farmers who are persuaded by greedy lawyers to take legal action for the slightest complaint. Behind the lawyer hangs a warning: 'Die wil regten om een koe, die blijft vrij tuys en brengt er nog een toe' (fighting over a cow will cost you at least another).
