Jan van der Vaart has, since the middle of the 1960s, been producing work including bronze-coloured vases and dishes that he constructed from geometric elements and sheets of clay. He cast small series of these objects based on the robust originals. This unique monumental vase, in the shape of two wedges screwed together, was made for his retrospective in Museum Boijmans van Beuningen in 1991.
