More information

The Rotterdam designer Jurgen Bey shows considerable respect for used objects. In 2001, he sawed up a number of old chairs and tables and then screwed the pieces together to form a new article. The hybrid furniture which was created in this way was then fitted with a spun cotton cocoon which came from the aircraft industry. The table-chair, plus a lamp and a service of china, were his entry for the 2002 Rotterdam Design Prize.
