Klaas Kloosterboer makes new combinations from the individual ingredients of a painting: canvas, form, colour, brushstroke and gesture. The canvas is cut up, sewn together and drilled with holes, given a layer of lacquer or left unfinished. The circles that have been cut from the canvas are recurring shapes. By making this painting the shape of an artist's smock, Kloosterboer seems to be settling a score with traditional methods., Klaas Kloosterboer makes new combinations from the individual ingredients of a painting: canvas, form, colour, brushstroke and gesture.
