Beckmann for Boijmans
The German Expressionist painting Apollo by Max Beckmann has been added to thecollection, thanks to the support of the Vereniging Rembrandt. The work wasacquired from and partly donated by the Marie-Louise von Motesiczky CharitableTrust, which had previously donated twenty works.
Het Leven Verspillen Aan Jou
Swiss artist Pipilotti Rist created the site-specific work Het Leven Verspillen Aan Jouespecially for Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen. The artwork is visible around thedepot from sunset until midnight and is a mix of video and site-specific art.
Les songes drolatiques de Pantagruel
In 2020, the museum acquired the sixteenth-century print book Les songesdrolatiques de Pantagruel, featuring 120 images of monstrous creatures in the styleof Hieronymus Bosch and Pieter Bruegel
Peinture-poème (Musique, Seine, Michel, Bataille et moi)
In the summer of 2022, a long-held wish of Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen wasfulfilled. The museum had been searching for an early painting by Spanish surrealistartist Joan Miró for decades. With support from various funds and donors, the museumwas able to add the 1927 painting Peinture-poème (Musique, Seine, Michel, Bataille etmoi) to its collection.
