Rosa Barba in the Depot

Now on view: ‘Drawing Probable Conclusions’. Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen has invited visual artist and filmmaker Rosa Barba to explore the collection and present her reflections at Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen.

Rosa Barba’s presentation at the Depot comprises several phases. She started with one film and is expanding her exploration of the collection to create an orchestral installation. This programme is proposed by Rosa Barba in conversation with Francesco Stocchi former curator of modern and contemporary art at Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen.

The collection through the eyes of Rosa Barba

In Drawing Probable Conclusions, Barba proposes an exhibition of works from the museum’s collection and a selection of works Boijmans should acquire; and curates it by applying her artistic strategy of interrogating the material and conceptual qualities of cinema. In the final phase, Conclude with Probable Drawings, during Art Rotterdam 2024, Barba will expand the installation with her performances Voice Engine (2021-24) and Hear, There Where the Echoes Are (2016-24) that fuse film, light, singing and music.

Film and video collection

Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen’s film and video collection features more than 250 works by 140 artists. Over the past few years, the entire collection has been digitised and can be viewed by everyone in the two study cabins on the second floor of the Depot.
