More information

It is uncertain whether this weeping woman, dressed in a long robe with
a veil and headdress, represents an actress or a biblical figure. The drawing
has been associated with Rembrandt’s studies of actors or his painting 'Christ
and the Adulterous Woman'. Attribution to Rembrandt is unlikely, as the
drawing style aligns more closely with Govert Flinck.
