This
drawing depicts a moment from the biblical parable of the Prodigal Son (Luke
15:11-32). One of the two sons squandered his inheritance and returned home penniless,
asking for forgiveness. The drawing was probably made by Ferdinand Bol, who was
inspired by an etching by Rembrandt from 1636.
