This sheet is part of the portfolio of lithographs entitled 'Quelques aspects de la vie de Paris' (Some Scenes of Parisian Life). In this series of five prints Bonnard provides a wonderful impression of everyday life in the French capital in a rhythmic play of forms and colour. He took his inspiration from Japanese woodblock prints.
