Wouters and Tytgat visited one another regularly and also made portraits of one another. Tytgat, in particular, frequently helped Wouters by modelling for his sketches and fgures. In this pen-and-ink drawing Tytgat poses while he himself draws a fgure on the table. Rik and Nel Wouters helped Tytgat, who was often short of money, by looking for buyers for his work among their contacts.
