This bird has two highly unusual features - as well as its huge
beak it has two toes in front and two behind, which Schouman
has depicted correctly. He probably drew the bird from a stuffed
specimen in one of the private bird collections. The landscape in
the background is not Dutch, but it is not tropical either. It could just
as well be a view of the Rhine in Germany.
