This city gate, built in 1682, was located in the northeast of the city, where the Herengracht opens onto the Singel, and was demolished in 1863. Compared to the other seven city gates, it is a simple structure, with a Doric order and pediment. It mainly served to access the vegetable gardens on the other side, which belonged to the village Leiderdorp. [text: Albert Elen, 2020]
